I’m stoked. Tomorrow, I go to BlogVille.
To be more specific, I go to Rimini, as part of the Emilia-Romagna Tourism Board’s BlogVille project.
Rimini is here (the B).
And it looks like this.
What is BlogVille?
BlogVille is a social media project hosted by the Emilia-Romagna Tourism Board aimed at promoting the region by providing a rotating set of travel bloggers with a place to stay in the region. There are two parts to the Blogville project. From April 23rd to May 31st, the bloggers were living in Bologna Centro. From June 2nd to July 14th, the bloggers are living across from the beach in Rimini. In addition to being based in awesome apartments, the bloggers are also introduced to some of the region’s attractions and local life through group trips that are organized each week. To date, some of the bloggers have learned to make pasta from scratch, attended Gelato University, visited a Parmigiano Reggiano factory, and participated in Lamborghini’s Driving Academy.
Check out who’s been at BlogVille and read their stories here.
What is Emilia-Romagna?
Emilia-Romagna is a region in Northern Italy. It is North of Rome and Florence, and South of Milan and Venice. It includes the cities of Bologna (the capital), Piacenza, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna, Ferrara, Ravenna, Faenza, Forlì, Cesena and Rimini. It is a center for food production, known for its tagliatelle, tortellini, Prosciutto di Parma, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and balsamic vinegar. It is also a center for automobile production (home to Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, De Tomaso and Ducati). The region has three UNESCO World Heritage sites, two National Parks, 13 Regional Parks, and 13 Natural Reserves. Many Americans miss this region during their Italian vacations just hitting the big cities of Rome, Florence, and Venice (and maybe the countryside of Tuscany or the Amalfi coast if they are adventurous). As Luke and I are learning, Emilia-Romagna is a food lovers paradise and offers a genuine Italian experience without the Disney-land-sized crowds.
What am I doing at BlogVille?
I’ll will be spending a week at Blogville in Rimini. I’m excited to see Rimini, eat a lot of piadinas (the region’s infamous flatbread sandwich), and spend some time lounging at the bagni (“baths”, or private beaches where you can rent a chair and umbrella). With the group, I’ll be visiting the Lidos of Ferrara (another beach) and the Marecchia Valley (in the countryside) and celebrating summer at Rimini’s Molo Street Parade. In the rest of my time, I hope to do some biking and check out nearby towns Ravenna and Verucchio.
In a nutshell
